Hyderabadi Food Festival @Zambar

ZAMBAR
Phoenix Market City
Viman Nagar, Pune

#Cost for 2 : approx 1000/-
#Decor : 8/10

#Ambiance :
The area divided is divided into two parts. One is boat shaped, with a roof and walls surrounded like that of a boat, while the outside area is similar to any other regular restaurant. The furniture is elegant, and the decor is suitable for a nice quiet dinner.

#Hyderabadi Food Festival :
From the historic kitchens of the city of Hyderabad, Zambar presents Pune with a selection of dishes to suit your palate. From delicious kebabs and curries to bread and biryanis, with their food, they strive to make you feel like a true Nawab.

The food bloggers team of food-adda were invited for a sneak peak of the menu.

#Hyderabadi Food Menu :
Among the veg starters, we had Aloo ke Garlay (potatpes flash fried in a savoury batter). They were delightful! We asked for repeats twice, so a must try! And good job Chef, for you made even a simple dish so lovely!

The non-vegetarian starters included shikampuri kebabs (pan fried mincon mutton kebabs) and Chicken Tikka ( boneless chicken cubes marinated, slow cooked and stir fried). The foodies tell us, they were enjoyable.

For the main course, we had only one vegetarian dish and 3 non-vegetarian dishes. The veggies were served Mircha ka Salan. It was fantastic and the paranthas were lip-smacking (yumm...soo well cooked).

Next, they tried the Achari Murgh (Chicken cooked in 'pickle' style). It was pretty average.

The Nawabi Kofta Curry (The Hyderabadi version of the popular minced meat ball curry) tasted good. The preparations used some exquisite spices, which made it taste even better.

The Machali Ka Salan ( a popular Hyderabadi fish Curry) was liked by all.

The next exploration of the Hyderabadi food continued with the famous Hyderabadi biryanis. The veg biryani was just average, nothing out of the blue. The mutton and chicken biryani had very different preparation and the chicken biryani was liked much more than the mutton biryani.

Next, we moved on to the final course of the meal, The Desserts. We had two desserts in our menu.

One was The double ka meetha, which is similar to shaahi tukda. It had just the right amount of sweetness, which I liked a lot.

Last was Qubani Ka Meetha. It is said All is well that ends well. This dessert made a grand closing to the whole dinner. It was mouthwatering. This one took my heart away.

Overall, a nice meal with chit-chat over food with my fellow food blogger friends.!

#Speciality of the Evening :
Meeting the Cuisine and Brand Head of Zambar, Mr. Arun Kumar was the most interesting part of the evening. A renowned film critic and a film producer-director turned chef to keep his exploration and experimentation going. WOW! We all were inspired from his story. Have planned to take his interview for the blog, keep watching this space to read his interesting story...

#Music :
The music needs to be improved. The ambiance feels dull because of the music, which gives a negative feel to the place.

#Final Verdict :
Check out the new menu! Hope to see some improvements inculcated!

#Special Thanks :
Thank you Shivam Gupta for sharing the pictures.

Make way for this awesome fairy-tale (for youngsters) like place Hoppipola and admire their unique ambiance while you have the time of your life! With a majestic entry to a little new world, Hoppipola is basically divided into the inside and the outside area. Its a fun place to be.

The walls are adored with fun objects. The outside area is beautiful, with a carnival like lighting. You can find beautiful blue and white chairs around the bar, which add up to the beauty of the place. You can also spot a small area in the middle, with small little mushrooms around the grass (told you fairy tale like!). The inside area is where all beer games take place ;) . You can choose to sit down by the bar stools or relax on the fun colored chairs around the area.

PS : Do you know, one of the wall is dedicated to small little post-boxes in different shapes and sizes. You can open up one of them, and if you are lucky enough to find a gift, you get to keep it!! Isnt it exciting??

Shoe Fetish

I have been meaning to write posts about other topics, except food, but I wasn't able to find something as interesting as food. Here, comes my first post for the beauty and fashion section of my blog.

Like any other girl, I am also a shoe lover. My eyes light up with excitement even at the sight of beautiful shoes and for me Steve Madden, Tresmode, Catwalk showrooms are like candyland is for little children. Its like a living dream when you stand in one of the showrooms, and the excitement shifts to another level when you own one of those pretty stilletoes or smart wedges. This is about one of my latest buys from Tresmode. I have been eyeing these wedges since the time I first saw them. Finally I had collected enough money to buy myself these pair of shoes. They cost almost 3000 rupees, but are worth every penny I have spent on them. You can also buy them here on the Tresmode website.

About the shoes ...These designer peep-toes are smart and very comfortable. Due to their light color, they don't go with all the dresses, but if you pair them right, they make you feel like a princess. The model for the shoes is CTROPE and it comes in black as well as Pink. I prefer pink color, as black is very common (also, I already have a lot of black sandals). The price for the shoes is totally worth it!! Just take care to use them carefully as the fabric used for the shoes is delicate, and may come off if they are used roughly.

This is as far as my comments go on these lovely shoes....If you have any queries or comments regarding the same, you can post it in the comments section here!!

Cognizant Celebrates Womens' Day

I have been a Cognizant Employee only a few months, but today Cognizant made each one of their female employee feel special, because, guess what it's Womens Day tomorrow.

Greeted by friendly faces, each one of us was given a red rose and a badge with WOMEN EMPOWERED written on it. Along with it was a special note for each one of us, which said " You are an Exceptional Woman". It truly means a lot to each one of us.

Thank You Cognizant! :)

An evening with Tastykhana

We were invited by the founder of Tasty Khana for dinner at Malaka Spice. We adored the lovely ambiance of Malaka from outside while we waited for the rest of the team members to come and join us. Neha from their digital marketing team quickly introduced us to the concept of TastyKhana and handed over a small information document about Tasty-Khana. As the food-adda team arrived, we proceeded to meet the TastyKhana team.

The co-founder Shachin Bharadwaj and his team members were waiting for us inside. We were greeted warmly, and the conversations began. We all instantly connected to each other over our love and appreciation for good food. Each of the bloggers introduced their blogs, and shared their stories as to how their blogs began and how they find time from their busy schedules to blog about their experiences. We then discussed our experiences with tasty-khana, the positives and the negatives.

We all appreciated the initiative, and each one of us contributed our thoughts towards the praise for tasty-khana. Not everything is perfect, and so is the case with tasty-khana. Some of us had faced a few problems with tasty-khana, and we didnt hesitate in sharing our feedback for the same.

One of the problems people face is that Tasty-khana is not reachable in far-off areas of Pune. The Puneites living on the outskirts only wish that tasty-khana delivered at their door-step too. Our queries were resolved, and they told us that they are trying to cover as many areas as possible and as many feasible to them.

Another issue that bothered us, was that if one of the restaurants is closed down or service is not available, the customer is informed after a duration of 15-20 minutes. This causes the customer to get angry and irritated. The solution to this is full-automation for the restaurants to update their status timely. This requires considerable use of technology, and its not easy to get the traditional restaurants to use that technology on a regular basis. The team is trying to automate the whole process and make the experience worthwhile for each of its users. There were a few minor issues and queries, which were happily solved by the tasty-khana team.

For me, the best part of the evening was personally knowing the inspiring story of the tasty-khana co-founder Shachin Bharadwaj. Even after failing so many times, he had the faith and determination to make it work and his vision was clear to him. He had not failed, but failed forward towards success. With traditional Indian parents, he faced the same problems as many of the youngsters face while working on their start-ups but his parents love and support encouraged him to work hard to achieve his goal and today we all adore him and look up to him. You can read the whole story of tastykhana here.

Our conversations were complimented by the food at Malaka. For starters, we had the Bell Pepper Tofu and Baby Potatoes with herbs and chillis (tasted good), accompanied by watermelon martinis. In mains, we ordered the Thai Curry and rice(loved it!) and mix-vegetable(nothing worth mentioning) and kanans. The meal concluded with Apple Crumble(okayish) and Chocolate Brownie (yummm!).

All in all a wonderful evening with wonderful people. Wishing the tasty-khana team, best of luck for their future endeavours! Hope you reach heights beyond imagination!

PS : Watch out for their amazing offers during festive seasons. You can avail great discounts!!

What is the impact of Social Networking Sites on Children?

A social networking service is a platform to build social networks or social relations among people who, for example, share interests, activities, backgrounds or real-life connections. With the widespread usage of internet, our younger generations have an easy access to such networking websites. Such websites are widely used and very popular.

Websites like facebook, twitter, pinterest, instagram, medium, hi5, tumblr, blogger are most popular among the long list of social networking websites. These websites provide an amazing platform to freely voice ones opinions and discuss and share ideas with like minded people, and hence have become an important part of each youngsters life. The facebook groups are utilized by students to share study material and update each other about lecture schedules and important events. Posting regularly on a blog (another kind of social networking) improves ones language and communication skills and can also be used to share study material. Regular tweeters update you of latest news in few tweets. Youngsters have even found love online through social networking websites. The reach and effect of social networking cannot be underestimated.

Even though these websites have been used in many positive and creative ways, the extensive use of these websites has its downfalls which are immeasurably more severe than they appear to be. The children these days are obsessed on sharing even minute details of their life on social networking websites. They are absorbed in their phones and computers, busy sharing their information with their network of friends. Unknowingly, they expose themselves to great dangers from online attacks. They are vulnerable and left unprotected when they share too much personal information about themselves. In addition, such websites have made them more attached to the online world, and they have started losing touch with the real world. Most conversations now happen online, rather than on phone or face to face. This has restricted the outdoor activities and made them lethargic, also affecting their health.

Everything in this world has a positive and negative aspect to it. Its depends on the individual to utilize it for the good or the bad. Social Networking websites have positive as well as negative impact on the youngsters. The responsibility lies equally with the adults as well as the youngsters to utilize these networking websites to their advantage, and not get obsessed with the technology.

Education System In India

We observe a lot of discussions over the education system in India. While some choose to criticize it, others praise the government’s efforts leading to an improved literacy and a better education system in the country. The introduction of RTE (Right to Education Act) has sparked a lot of debates and the focus of people has again shifted to India's education system. The youth contribute the most to the economic growth of the country; hence it becomes important to maintain the quality of workforce.

The literacy rate of the country has risen considerably since the time of independence. While in the past focus laid in increasing the number of educational institutions, the focus has now shifted to achieving equal literacy rate among males and females, providing better opportunities for all strata of the society, increase the use of technology and applying effective teaching methods and in turn generating highly skilled youth for the country. The number of private and public institutions has considerably gone up in the past few years. With the introduction of RTE, the government aims at providing equal opportunities for the weaker sections of the society, who are deprived of education due to financial limitations.

Even though a lot of efforts have been taken up to improve the education system of the country, they are still not enough. Consider the case of RTE: Although it was introduced with honest intentions, its implementation is still in question due to widespread corruption. The schools and colleges in today's world have become more of money making institutions, diminishing the focus on the quality of education. Moreover, the methodologies used are not right, as they create students who are more focussed on obtaining good marks rather than on gaining knowledge. The lack of good teachers due to unattractive opportunities in this field has further aggravated the situation. A vicious cycle where substandard teachers create an in

ferior grade of students has aggravated the situation. The government plans to open up more institutions like the IITs and the IIMs but forgets about maintaining the quality of already existing institutes. The focus should lie on quality more than on quantity.

The education system needs a lot of refinement and a lot of revolutionary changes are required before it can really be called an effective system. The efforts undertaken by various authorities are appreciated, but a holistic view of the practical challenges faced will lead to a better implementation of policies. I believe by executing the RTE act more effectively and focussing on generating a smart and skilled workforce, India can progress at a much faster pace and develop at unbelievable pace.
