Mezzuna...Lazy Sunday Brunch Next Door

Mezzuna
City Road
Dhole Patil Road
Pune

Cost for 2 : Rs 1500/-

Décor – 9/10

#Love Scale : 9/10

#Ambiance Meter :
This lovely Mediterranean Bar and kitchen has a nice fine dine ambiance with a little Mediterranean feel to it. The place has an ambiance perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch or a relaxed meal with family & friends.

The place consists of two seating areas :

The inside area has beautiful geometrical seating areas which give u a feeling of sitting in a booth. The seating area is spacious and gives you good privacy.
The stunning outside area is quite relaxing and inviting (it’s the main relaxing zone here!) where they have sofa seating (with weather cane sofas) with green and white as their theme color.  It is very relaxing to sit on the outdoors beneath the sun on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The outside area is perfect for a romantic evening on a cool night in Pune.
On the insides, they have a nice bar on one side  while on the other side, you can see the racks stacked up with beautiful kitchen goodies, sauces, breads along with the desserts on display. Overall, the ambiance is made for lazy dinners and lunches!!

#Service factor :
Ayan, the manager greeted us warmly and escorted us to our table. He personally made sure we were well assisted and looked after. Even though the service is a little slow, I have no complaints about it!

#Oomph factor :
Mezzuna serves exquisite Mediterranean food. Take your pick among the ala-carte menu or the buffet spread. The ala carte menu is extensive, but if you want to just have the best of food they have, I’d say you choose the buffet option. (You have an option of making your brunch available with unlimited alcohol too…isn’t that great?!)
Our brunch started with a small tour of the place to check out the outdoors and the live counters with the respective chefs.
Coming to the food, for starters, we had the Thin-crust pizzas, Parmesan Zucchini fritters, mushroom balsamico and scarmoza grilled potatoes. The mushrooms were well-cooked and the grilled potatoes tasted good and different (we even had it for the second time). The thin crust pizzas were very well prepared.
Next, we tried the crepes which were amazing!! You can choose your own fillings and salads from the live counter.
The eggs benedict here are just yummm yummm yummm….
Coming to the main course, the pumpkin ravioli and Rissoto were filling and tasted average.
Coming to the dessert-menu (which looked mouth-watering), I loved the Tiramisu! Surprises continue with the Chocolate tart (for dark-chocolate lovers…its heavenly!) …but the cup-cakes were just average and can definitely be improved upon! Overall, a satisfying meal!

#Cost factor :
The brunch costs around 700 per person (without alcohol) and given the variety and quality of food, I would say its totally worth it!
#My Recommendation :
Try their banana-strawberry smoothie, its just awesome!! The mocktails are also very well prepared! J

#Final Verdict :
For a lazy Sunday afternoon, this place is perfect in all aspects. If you are a foodie or love trying out new food and new places, this place is a must visit!

Spark a change! Stay Free & Healthy!

Stayfree Secure is conducting a contest, named Spark a Change (Stay Free and Stay Healthy) and this is my entry for the same!

The best way to bring a change in this world, is to be the change yourself!

I would like to spark the change by educating as many people as I can, and donating to those charities which work to educate the people of India.

WHY THIS?
Female education is among one of the major factors, which makes a huge difference in the overall development of the country. Gender equality and access to education will go a long way in developing India, overall as a nation.

Even though, the overall literacy rate has risen to a great extent, still a large part of the population remain uneducated. The empirical evidence as derived from the extensive analyses of the Demographic and Health Surveys in India shows that the dominant force for limiting fertility is female education : more educated women want fewer children and tend to provide them with better life chances in terms of better health and education.

As the saying goes, "the hand that rocks the cradle, rules the world:". The statement signifies that the mother exercises a very great influence over the lines of her children and is able to mould their thoughts and character. If she is educated, she will make an impression on the minds of their children, that will go a long way in the overall personality development of the children.

More educated women tend to have better access to information, and hence are able to impart a better education to their children as compared to the uneducated women. It is therefore an important aspect to develop a better and healthier India.

HOW WOULD I DO THAT?

  • I would take weekend classes for poor children.
  • I would join NGOs working in the field of education, and take active part in their campaigns to increase the number of participants in such programs.
  • I would organize charity events, and use the money to open up small schools for imparting education to as many people as I can.
  • I would do everything in my power that I can, to educate as many as I can and spark a change!
Better education leads to a better country...Be the change and bring a Change!

Decor-9.5/10

#Love Scale : 9/10

#Ambiance Meter :
Some places are timeless and one of these happens to be right in the heart of the city...Momo 2Go by Courtyard Marriott. This posh restaurant has a world class decor with a sprawling, handsome space that is beautiful enough to awe you. The ambiance is quite relaxing and inviting. It is here that the young and the not so young seem to have found their comfy spaces.

The restaurant is divided into two areas. The outside poolside and the beautiful inside seating area. Both together make up for an interesting ambiance. You can relax in a cosy ambiance inside with a comfortable seating arrangement or choose to relax by the poolside with your drinks in the refreshing daylight.

They serve up quite an experience for connoiseurs and many a surprise await for you in this lovely place (read : versatile retreat). Even when you are sober, the exquisite wine bottles and wacky glassware levitating glass shelves bar puts you in the mood. You can put this one in your Sunday relaxing zone!

#Service Factor :
The ever smiling and friendly waiting staff are always happy to offer suggestions with efficient service. The chef himself asks you for your personal preferences in the dishes! Who wouldn’t love that?!

#Buzz :
Momo 2Go with its soaring popularity is popular and packed almost all through the Sunday! You get into the spirit here by the lovely live music playing…Believe me, the beautiful singer sang some Adele songs, and I simply loved them!

#Oomph factor :
Still reminiscing about my sinful indulgences, while writing this review! Momo 2Go café has food to match your spirits. The multicuisine meandering menu is very interesting and has a brilliant variety of items on the list, including breakfast options and the desserts menu!

Satiate your thirst with their welcome drink. Take your pick between the natural nariyal pani, a mocktail and tea (if you are a tea-lover…which most of us are!). If you are in a snacky mood choose from quick bites like the fresh croissants or the Danish. Enjoy the variety of salads, and snacky options.

Wood fired pizzas and Italian white pasta are the stars of this glamorous menu. More substantial options include the variety of Indian gravies and fresh roti. Surprises continue with their yummy pancakes!!

DO NOT MISS their desserts…With an endless variety, and all of them being out of this world, the desserts will definitely never fail to appease you!

#Presentation :
The presentation of food contributes to an upscale dining experience. A treat for the eyes, and best place to take some foodgasmic pics! Don’t forget to take your camera along! :)

#Cost factor :
Honestly, they have high prices but standards to match!

#My Recommendation :
I have an unrivaled experience in taste and quality (especially with the desserts) ! Try out the wood-fired pizzas, the tea cake and do not eat too much in the main course coz you would wanna save the space for the endless variety of desserts here!

#Final Verdict :
I personally quite loved it and the experience left me mesmerized…You can call me a little biased, given it was my first foodie meet, but I did love the place!;)

One of its kind #BrunchUp at #Pune

Here I am, writing about the first foodie meet up I attended in my life, feeling proud that I was the one who organised it!! Everyone has been asking me but one question, how this all started, and what was the motivation behind it.

My Inspiration & How It All Started :
In the process of writing my MBA Entrance exams one after the other, and waiting for my joining date I had lost my zeal and enthusiasm for food and life. My life had become dull and I had become a lazy lethargic person sulking around the whole day! I had planned my visit to Pune after 10th Nov, to get some rest from all that was going on at home, and in my life. Many of my friends kept asking me if there was a foodie-meet up being organised (after almost every foodie tweet I used to do!) in Pune, but I myself didnt know anything.

I guess, we all were waiting for someone to do it for us, while we were too busy trying to figure out our lives. We all wanted a common platform, where we could meet like-minded people and bond with them over common love for food, and this was much needed, especially in a city like Pune, where the restaurant culture has been growing so fast.

It started with a plan to meet-up at any restaurant and just chill out together. We knew each other through twitter, and had interacted numerous time, but never had a chance to really connect to each other on a personal level.

In the process of finding a good restaurant, where we could meet-up and also enjoy good food at amazing prices, I started connecting to a lot of amazing restaurants, and guess what, many of them showed great interest in holding up a meet-up at their restaurant. It all started become more and more exciting with each passing day. We had finalised the date of 17th November for the meet-up (being a Sunday), but it was very difficult to finalise a restaurant, which would cater to all our needs.

Came to the rescue, a very dear friend Bhakti Sharma (@bhakti_lyfstylr). She became the guiding force behind it. While I got busy with my new job, she would keep me updated with the happenings and would keep pressing on finalising the proper details for the event soon.

While in talks with many other restaurants, I came in contact with the marketing team for Courtyard Marriott Pune City Center. They showed great interest in holding a one of its kind foodie, food bloggers and twitter influencers meet-up (now named as #BrunchUp). They welcomed us with love, and offered to host this event at Momo Cafe at the Courtyard Marriott Pune City Center, Bund Garden Road. Needless to say, we all were more than delighted !!

The details were finalised, the invites were sent off, and a watsapp group was formed (necessary nowadays for proper interaction ). We all were very excited, and the excitement just increased day by day. Finally the day came, and it all went away very smoothly.

#My Experience :
Will be sharing my review for the Momo Cafe, Courtyard Marriott, Pune in my next post!! Let me first tell you a little about the meet-up. There were 15 of us, all from different backgrounds, from different areas of work, but we all connected so well over two things, Pune and Food. It was an amazing experience in itself!! Meeting such highly motivated individuals and getting inspired from them , was the best part of the meet!!

#Activities :
With all foodies gathering together (at the Momo Cafe, CY Marriott, Bund Garden Road ) we had some fun games (special thanks to hungrytable.in for sponsoring the prizes) .We all chatted over our personal fav food items, our fav restaurants, fav clubs of Pune and had a great time interacting n knowing each other !!

Tasty Khana...Healthy and tasty food! My Doodle!

All of us will agree that eating sprouts and beans (even though we know they are healthy) is not something we look forward to! But staying at home with MOM, you have to eat them sometimes. So, I figured out a way to make both of us happy! Intake of nutrition as well as taste of the food!

Ingredients :
Tomatoes
Onions
Capsicum
Sweet Chilly Sauce
Oregano
Baked Beans
Cheese (if you want )

Recipe :

1) Finely chop down onions, tomatoes and capsicum.
2) Put them in a bowl along with beans/sprouts and add sweet chilly sauce and oregano to flavor.
3) Mix them well and taste (add salt if reqd! )

Brittos, Goa...Cheesecakes and Peace at Goa

Brittos at Baga Beach, Goa

Brittos, Goa for some cocktails, cheesecakes and relaxation! Mind Blowing view of the Baga beach from Brittos. Very relaxing indeed! Even though they don't have a lot of options in veg, the non-veg platter is awesome(very filling) ! Food is a little overpriced, but given the name and fame of Brittos, its justifiable. The service is average (read : poor). Cheesecakes are very reasonably priced! Blueberry Cheesecake, apple cinnamon pie and tiramisu, worth every penny!

Detailed review coming up soon! :)

Gupta Sandwiches, Vashi....Fav hangout for all!

Gupta Sandwiches & Snacks
Sector-17
Vashi

Cost for 2 - Rs.200/-
Open Since-1994

#Love Scale- 8/10

#Home Delivery : Option Available

#Ambiance Meter :
The place has improved a lot since its earlier days, when it was a messy shop with loadsa customers crowding to get their orders. They have made it more organized and more sanitized. Its still a little shop, in a gully of Sector-17, Vashi. You can stand and eat outside the shop, as there's very little space in the shop (can barely contain 5-10 people).

#Buzz :
Favourite among all! You'll become a patron yourself, once you have had a sandwich here. Always buzzing with students (teens mostly, who have classes nearby) and office crowd at evening hours!

#Oomph factor :
Gupta sandwiches famous for their excellent sandwiches enjoy a great reputation among the Navi Mumbaikars. Grab a quick filling snack or chit-chat with a group of friends with loadsa sandwiches, this place will never fail to satisfy you! They offer good variety of pizzas and sandwiches.

My fav in the appetizers is definitely garlic bread with cheese. In sandwiches, veg grill with cheese is best of all. The mayo sandwich has too much mayo :p (Initially you love it, but as the sandwic is big, its difficult to eat as you get bored of the too much mayo!) Paneer Grill is also good, but gets boring to eat too much paneer after a point of time (Sandwich being so big!) Their Cheese Chilli Toast and Choco bites toast is good too! In the pizza menu, you can try exotic pizza or the veggie lover chat kara pizza, but I dint find the pizzas that good.

You can try the butterscotch milkshake (nothing extraordinary, too sweet) or the chocolate milkshake, if you need something to gulp along with your sandwich.

Ice cream : kulfi falooda...Yum Yum!

#Cost Factor :
Cost for 2 is around 200-250 bucks, which is very reasonable given the huge portions which can fill even a hungry foodie!

#Infomaniac facts :
1) They are veg only shop!
2) Open from 9am to 10pm
3) They are planning on opening a new branch at Ghatkopar

Hidden Place...A not so hidden gem in the nightlife of Pune

HIDDEN PLACE
KP & DP Road,Pune

Cost for two-1000/-
Decor- 9/10

#Love Scale : Coz of the enormous coolness quotient and soaring popularity this quaint gem is one of the best places in Pune. Infinite Love for them!

It would be a tall task to capture the awesomeness of this place in a blog...But I will give it my best try...

#Ambiance Meter:
It's a jungle out there, but this unique hangout is dancing to the beat of its own drum, leaving all the others behind in the race for popularity! With two branches, one at KP and other at DP Road, this attractively unusual place is in simple words, just AWESOME!

Every corner at Hidden Place tells a story and draws you toward it.

The Hidden Place at KP has two levels of seating. The lower one definitely more rocking ;) ! The upper level has a graffiti depicting the best of music bands, with their pics n names. You'd find an interesting collection of framed paintings on the wall, my favorite being monalisa smokin a joint! :p

Newly opened Hidden Place, DP Road is as interesting as the previous one. The innovative art installations! Art work blending and brewing up everything! All is as cool as the KP Hidden Place. It is one of the best place to linger after work and chill out with friends.

#Service Factor :
Impeccable! The service is fantastic! Ever smiling and friendly waiters are always happy to offer suggestions with efficient service.

#Buzz :
Bring friends together, will all kinda stories to share over a mug of beer. This place neva lacks the buzz, no matter what time of the day it is! Cheer for your

favorite team and drink to its victory or defeat. At the end of the evening, all who leave the place, go home feeling like they're on the top of the world.

#Oomph factor :
Reminiscing about my sinful indulgences...Let me tell you, that food at Hidden Place, never disappoints! They have food to match your 'spirits'. The food does justice to the epicurean ingredients used. Try out some quick bites like mushroom in butter garlic, ceaser salad, corn fritters or if you're in a snacky mood, choose from the more filling options like sphagetti with mushroom and onion or fresh baked vegetables and I guarantee you quality of food!

#Drinks Menu :
Here, beer is guzzled by pitcher. They mix and throw their ingredients from one shaker to another with utmost precision, and prepare uniquely delectable cocktails n mocktails. Try out their LIT and Tequila Sunrise...Perfectly prepared!

#Surprise Surprise :
They have plenty of offers that keep rotating. Enjoy full day happy hours on Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays or tank up on unlimited alcohol on karaoke nights on Mondays. Surprises continue with rare lunch buffet offer with unlimited beer in just Rs.385/- .

#Dress Code :
You don't want to dress up all glamorous for Hidden Place, its a sports bar and not a club...Cool and smart works here!

#Acoustics :
Mix of music keeps the energy pumping. They have awesome tracks playing all through the night, which makes it the favorite for everyone who comes here!

#Cost factor :
Fits all pockets...With best offers, they will never rob you of your money...Trust me on that! ;)

#Special Thanks
Sunil Chandani, the owner of Hidden Place for being so generous to us the other day, when we seemed to have misplaced a friends wallet. He helped us find it out and also chatted with us over a few drinks (on the house). It is a pleasure knowin him! Cheers!

#Final verdict :
I am the fondest patron of HP. Great food priced aptly with amazing offers on all days makes it a great place to spend an evening of fun with friends and colleagues.

Good Working Habits

Good Working Habits are essential for everyone. Adopting a few good working habits, change the whole style of working, and the output becomes two-fold.

I am sharing a few most important working habits, that anyone and everyone can adopt, and you yourself can see the difference !

1) DO THINGS IN ORDER OF THEIR IMPORTANCE :
People fail to prioritize their work. You should make a list of jobs, in order of decreasing importance and then work accordingly. It will help complete your work on time, and with more success, as the most important jobs will be completed well on time.

2) CLEAN YOUR DESK :

People try to manage so many tasks together, and fail to give anytime, to keep their desks organized. Keeping a desk organized, and not putting off the work for another day, will help complete all your work on time, and with increased efficiency. Clean your desk of all papers except those relating to the immediate problem at hand. You will see, you feel stress-free when you see more organised table. You will feel more energetic, and will be able to concentrate on work in hand rather than on all jobs here n there (failing to complete any of them properly! ).

3) DON'T PUT OFF DECISIONS
When you face a problem, solve it then and there if you have facts necessary to make a decision. Don't keep putting off decisions, because it will lead to unnecessary accumulation of work. Also, be responsible, and complete your work on time!

4) LEARN TO ORGANIZE, DEPUTIZE AND SUPERVISE
You should know what work to keep for yourself, and what work to share with others. You should know how to supervise, and divide the work among your staff, according to their abilities. Organize your work well, and you will see better results!

ZOMATO : To love or not to love?

What is Zomato?
I am sure, the ones reading this would laugh, saying this is not a question to be asked, because everyone in the world knows about Zomato. I am sure, its true, with the wonders Zomato has done in less than 5 years. But let me tell you a little about Zomato, for those living in cities where Zomato is still a new concept.

From the Start :
Zomato started as FoodieBay.com  by Deepinder Goyal along with a few of his colleagues to sort out the problems of finding a good restaurant to eat. Officially started in July, 2008 with a database for approx 1200 restaurants in Delhi, Zomato has expanded its database to more than 1,20,000. Zomato has expanded its reach outside India recently to places like Brazil, New Zealand, Phillipines, Qatar, UAE, UK, Sri Lanka, London and many more...

What does it do :
Zomato's guide allows you to search for information related to restaurants, bars, pubs, and clubs. The information includes the establishment's name, contact info, hours of operation, happy hours (where valid), menu cards, photos, user reviews, location on map, user ratings and recommendations for the restaurant, types of cuisines served, presence or absence of AC, smoking area availability, WiFi services, approx prices, availability of home delivery, and much more!

My Experience :
I myself started out sharing a few experiences on Zomato. When I earned a position on the leaderboard for the first time, I couldn't control my excitement. I was filled with joy! From then on, I have never missed a chance to try out a new restaurant, or a newly opened club, (just to review more on Zomato, and go higher on the foodie leaderboard).

My eyes light up, when one of my friends sees my name on the Zomato leaderboard while surfing and texts me to say that they feel proud of me! I have gained huge popularity among my friends, and they all ask for my recommendations whenever they go out, which makes me nothing less than proud! ;)

Now, I aspire to be recognized as a foodie, and be known to my fellow Zomen as a connoisseur, a gourmand. Zomato served as an inspiration...

What We love :

1) Zomato provides us with accurate, up-to-date and detailed information for each establishment in the city.

2) User Recommendations, help you decide if the restaurant/club/pub is worth going or not.

3) Availability of Menu for each restaurant which helps us decide if we can really afford it or not, and if the cuisine and the dishes available matches our taste or not.

4) The interface is easy-to-use and user friendly. Also, it is updated frequently, which keeps us hooked to the website, and makes us more enthusiastic about food we eat outside!

5) Zomato has made eating outside a trend, an experience worth having! People want to go out more, and discover new places to eat, so that they can review more on Zomato and earn points and respectable status in the foodie committee.

6) Zomato recently introduced an option to thank someone if you liked their review, which is a superb move to let people know, their reviews are appreciated!

7) The leaderboard system on Zomato helps you maintain the competitive spirit, and keeps alive the spirit of discovering new places and restaurants in your city.

8) Zomato has launched an app for the mobile phones, which makes it easy to discover new places through mobile.

9) Zomato also lists the budget for 2 for each restaurant, which helps you decide if it is within your price range or not.

10) The happy hours availability on Zomato is great for all!

11) Finding nearby metro, and posting pics and commenting on the reviews is easy through the Zomato app...Which we absolutely love!

12) Book a table option availability at a few restaurants, which helps you to avoid the waiting line at the restaurants.

What we want to change or be added to our fav Website :

1) Zomato can introduce their own offers for each restaurant for people come to ZOMATO almost everyday, and availing offers by writing reviews would be very helpful!

2) We should be able to recommend a dish for each restaurant, and availability of voting system for each dish (special to each restaurant) would help us try out the best dishes of each restaurant.

3) I want to be able to divide the places I favourite, into groups like #Party Favourites, #Buffet Favourites, #Brunch Favorites etc. so that its easy to find the place when I need to!

4) I should be able to find out the restaurants open at a particular time, especially night time and breakfast time, when searching for a food joint is pretty difficult.

5) Include the Chef's names if possible. People would love to know about them. Also, if there was a lil section devoted to the chefs, it would be great!

6) People writing small insignificant reviews should be warned, as such reviews are in no way helpful, and quite irritating. We should be allowed to report and moderate such users.

7) Zomato rewards its foodies, but not too well. Foodies should be offered special discounts once in a while. It would be nice, refreshing and rewarding.

8) While planning for my party, it became very difficult for me to go to each restaurant and gather details to organize a private party. Such options should be made available on Zomato.

9) We need a better Rating system! We should be able to rate food, music, ambiance, etc individually, so it becomes easy for people to judge a place better!

11) Lack of ambiance photos is quite frustrating. We need to check out the ambiance, and food photos aren't that important! We need more ambiance photos for each restaurant!

12) A coming soon section is much required on Zomato. Coming Soon or newly launched restaurants should be listed separately for users to be able to discover more!

13) There should be an option available, for those, who dont have a lot of time to write a review, to choose few of the given words in each section of food, ambiance, service, etc to describe a place fast and easy, without any hassles.

14) More criteria to sort out the restaurant of choice can be added to the website.

I hope Zomato implements these points in their next update, and help enhance the experience of fellow Zomen.

Chinese in Pune

Want to eat good Chinese in #Pune?
I am gonna share some of the small Chinese joints which serve good Chinese in Pune. Do not look for hygiene or presentation, but only taste.

1) Golden Dragon
    Karve Nagar, Pune

Cost for two - Rs.300 to 400

#Ambiance - Its a small eatery, which can seat around 20-30 people at a time.

#Oomph Factor- The food is authentic and awesomely delicious! Perfect mix of spices. Noodle and Fried Rice have varieties to choose from. Most of them are good! The food is freshly made and served hot. Generous Portions.

#Service - The service is good.

#Recommended : Hot n sour soup, Thai Curry (only if you like it)

 #WARNING : Closed from 3 to 7pm.

2) Mini Wok Oriental Kitchen
Near coffee Stop, Pune

Cost for 2- Rs. 600 to 700

#Ambiance- Small place, with not too much space to sit. Mostly a stall, with chairs placed crammed with each other.

#Oomph Factor- They serve authentic Chinese. The food is great, and delicious to its core! Try out the combos to save money.

#Cost factor- Too costly for a small joint that it is. The prices are high, but with good food, its bearable.  You do not expect a road side joint to keep such high prices.

#Service- Most awful ever. No decency. No manners. Worst of all!

#My Verdict : Can try this place, if you want good Chinese food, but be prepared for high prices. Do not expect even basic courtesy from the waiters, but if you can get past all those things, food is considerably good!

3) Hot Sip
Kothrud, Near M.I.T. College, Pune

Cost for 2- Rs. 400/-

#Ambiance - Good for a road side joint. 2 levels for seating. Too less space to sit, but the space above is a little more private.

#Oomph Factor- Decent food. They serve good Indian food as well!

#Cost Factor- reasonably prices with decent quantity of food.

#Service- Okayish. Nothing to complain about.

#My Verdict - Can go, if low on cash, and want to have Chinese.

4) Kok Pa
F.C. Road, Pune

Cost for 2- Rs 500/-

#Ambiance- A joint which can seat around 40-50 people at a time. A small hut kinda place.

#Oomph factor- Good food. The chicken Wings are good!

#Cost Factor- Reasonably Priced

#Service- Okayish. Nothing Great. Serve hot food, but take a little too much time to prepare food.

#Final Verdict- Good to save money when roaming around F.C. Road on a Sunday and when you are not able to find a table at any other restaurant.

Each prayer is answered as soon as it is heard & each prayer is heard as soon as it is said. The effort that we do need to make, however, is in ensuring that all our thoughts are positive so that our prayers do not keep cancelling each others effects!
